What is Pulped Natural Arabica Coffee?
Harvested Coffee can be processed generally in three ways, out of which one is semi Washed also known as Pulped Natural or Pulped Sun Dried or Honey Washed coffee. Under this process, the coffee cherries are sorted out by immersion in open water tank. Bad or unripe fruit will float and the good ripe fruit will sink which will be passed to a mechanical pulper to remove the outer skin of the cherry. During pulping, the cherries are washed with water, their outer skin is removed and this cherries with fruit pulp is sorted and moved to special fermented tanks where it will be allowed to ferment for specific hours. With fermented cherries, it will be directly send to drying yards for drying instead of washing the mucilage. This process imparts special fruity flavours to the coffee and nowadays in high demand. Once properly dried under strict supervision, it is stored & labelled lot wise, block wise with total quantity and logged in a book for traceability and transparency. Before it is dispatched to us, it is mechanically cured, peeled, polished, color sorted, density sorted, graded and packed in special hermetic moisture proof bags which are further covered with Jute gunny bags. Under this process, the coffee processed is on a small scale and hence only a limited quantity is available as Micro Lot.
